About Stone Ships at Anundshög, Västerås

Anundshög, near Västerås west of Stockholm, is the largest burial mound in Sweden, about 60 metres across and 9 metres high. Around it lie several stone ships, a runestone and other ancient graves, and an old road once passed close by, so the site was both a royal burial place and a meeting place for the people of the region. Legend links the mound with a king called Anund. The stone ships were raised during the Viking Age or shortly before. This photo shows one of the stone ships, its grey stones forming a long oval on bright green grass.

Puzzle tip: start with the grey stones of the ship outline, then the green grass inside and the trees around it.
