About Hand of Fatima near Hombori

Near the town of Hombori in eastern Mali, huge towers of sandstone rise straight out of the flat Sahel plain. The best known is the Hand of Fatima, a group of rock pillars that look like the fingers of a giant hand, with walls hundreds of metres high that attract climbers from around the world. Nearby stands Hombori Tondo, the highest point in Mali at about 1,155 metres. This photo shows the rock fingers above a red dirt road and the dry, green-dotted plain.

Puzzle tip: start with the rock towers on the horizon, then the red road and the green bushes, and the pale sky last.
