About Elephants on the Savanna, Lopé National Park

Lopé National Park in central Gabon is a rare place where patches of grassy savanna meet the dense rainforest of the Congo Basin. Elephants, buffalo and the world's largest groups of mandrills live here, and the park also protects rock carvings and traces of people going back hundreds of thousands of years. Together they make it a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Ecosystem and Relict Cultural Landscape of Lopé-Okanda. This photo shows elephants crossing the golden grass, with forested hills behind.

Puzzle tip: start with the elephants and the dark forest edge, then the hills, and fill in the golden grass and the sky last.
