About Fishermen on Lake Kivu at Sunset, Goma

Lake Kivu lies high in the Great Rift Valley on the border between DR Congo and Rwanda, at about 1,460 metres above sea level. Goma, the largest city on its northern shore, stands on old lava flows at the foot of Nyiragongo. Every evening fishermen paddle out in wooden boats to catch sambaza, small sardine-like fish, often singing to keep their rhythm. The deep water of the lake also holds large amounts of dissolved gas, now used to make electricity. This photo shows two fishermen in a canoe at sunset, with the city behind.

Puzzle tip: start with the canoe and the two fishermen, then the city on the shore, and the golden sky and the water last.
