About Arco della Pace, Milan

The Arco della Pace, the Arch of Peace, stands at the edge of Sempione Park in Milan. It was begun in 1807 to celebrate Napoleon's victories, but was finished in 1838 under the Austrians, who dedicated it to peace in Europe. On top, a bronze goddess of peace rides a chariot drawn by six horses, facing the old road to Paris over the Simplon Pass.

Puzzle tip: the statues on top and the carved arch are the most detailed parts; the sky and the paving come last.
