About Eilean Donan Castle in Rain and Mist

Eilean Donan Castle stands on a small tidal island where three sea lochs meet, on the road to the Isle of Skye in the western Highlands of Scotland. A castle was first built here in the 13th century. In 1719, during a Jacobite rising, government warships bombarded it and it was blown up, and for two centuries only ruins remained. Between 1912 and 1932 Lieutenant Colonel John MacRae-Gilstrap rebuilt it from old plans, with the arched stone bridge that leads to it today. In this photo its walls rise under low, rainy clouds.

Puzzle tip: the stone castle and its tower are the clearest parts; the grey sky and the hills need patience.
