About Golden Temple, Amritsar

The Harmandir Sahib, known as the Golden Temple, is the holiest shrine of the Sikh faith. It stands in the middle of a sacred pool, the Amrit Sarovar, which gave the city of Amritsar its name. The temple was built under Guru Arjan at the end of the sixteenth century, and in the early nineteenth century Maharaja Ranjit Singh had its upper floors covered in gold. It has doors on all four sides as a sign that people of every faith are welcome, and its free community kitchen serves meals to tens of thousands of visitors every day.

Puzzle tip: start with the golden temple and its reflection in the pool; the white buildings around it and the sky come last.
