About Gondolas on the Grand Canal, Venice

The Grand Canal winds through the middle of Venice for nearly four kilometres in the shape of a backward S. It is the city's main street, busy from morning to night with water buses, taxis, delivery barges and gondolas. There were once thousands of gondolas in Venice; today there are about four hundred, each built by hand from eight different kinds of wood.

Puzzle tip: the boats and the red awnings make good starting points; the rippling water needs patience.
