About Kilchurn Castle in the Mist, Loch Awe

Kilchurn Castle stands at the northern end of Loch Awe, in Argyll in western Scotland, on a strip of land that was once an island. It was built in the 15th century by Sir Colin Campbell of Glenorchy, the founder of one of Scotland's most powerful families, and later turned into a barracks for soldiers. The Campbells left it in the 18th century, and it has stood as a roofless ruin ever since, often wrapped in low cloud from the surrounding mountains. In this photo the castle is reflected in the calm water under misty brown hills.

Puzzle tip: the castle and its reflection make a clear centre; the misty hills and sky come last.
