About Maletsunyane Falls

Maletsunyane Falls, near the mountain village of Semonkong, is one of the highest single-drop waterfalls in southern Africa: the Maletsunyane River plunges 192 metres from the edge of a basalt cliff into a deep gorge. The name Semonkong means the place of smoke, after the cloud of spray that rises from the falls. Daring visitors can abseil down the cliff beside the water, on what has been called the longest commercial abseil in the world. This photo shows the waterfall dropping into the green gorge between steep rock walls.

Puzzle tip: start with the white waterfall, then the dark rock walls, and the green slopes and the sky last.
