About Neptune Fountain in the Boboli Gardens, Florence

The Boboli Gardens spread over the hillside behind Pitti Palace on the southern side of the River Arno. The Medici developed them as a formal garden where paths, terraces and sculpture were arranged to create changing views. Neptune, the Roman god of the sea, stands above a pond in one of the garden's best-known fountains. This photograph brings together the statue, its reflection, clipped greenery and tall trees, showing the quieter landscape behind Florence's palace walls rather than the crowded streets across the river.

Puzzle tip: build the statue and pond edge first, keeping the reflected trees separate from the trees above them.
