About Revival Houses in the Old Town of Plovdiv

Plovdiv is one of the oldest cities in Europe that has been lived in without a break, with a history of more than six thousand years. Its old town covers three hills and is famous for the houses of the Bulgarian National Revival, built by rich merchants in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Their upper floors jut out over the cobbled lanes on wooden brackets, and their walls are painted in deep blue, red and yellow, often with decorative patterns. Plovdiv was a European Capital of Culture in 2019. This photo shows a cobbled street lined with colourful old houses.

Puzzle tip: start with the brightly painted house fronts, then fill the cobbles and the green plants along the street.
