Panama is the narrow country that links Central and South America, famous above all for its canal between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Our Panama puzzles show the canal locks, the old quarter of Panama City and the islands of both coasts.

The Panama Canal opened in 1914. Ships are lifted about 26 metres in huge locks, such as those at Gatún, to cross the artificial Gatún Lake before being lowered again on the other side, a journey that saves a voyage of thousands of kilometres around South America.
In Panama City, the old quarter of Casco Viejo is a World Heritage Site of balconied houses and plazas. On the Caribbean, the islands of Bocas del Toro are known for houses on stilts, and the Guna Yala islands are governed by the Guna people, famous for their colourful mola textiles.
