About Northern Lights near Lake Mývatn, Iceland

Curtains of green light hang over the lava fields near Reykjahlíð, a village on the shore of Lake Mývatn in north Iceland. The area around the lake is one of the most volcanic places on Earth, full of craters, steaming vents and hot springs, and it lies far from big towns, so the night sky is very dark. The northern lights appear when tiny particles from the sun strike the air about 100 to 300 kilometres above the ground and make it glow.

Puzzle tip: the bright green curtains are the key pieces; the dark land below is the hardest part, so leave it for last.
