About Great Buddha Hall of Todai-ji, Nara

Todai-ji stands in Nara Park, where more than a thousand deer roam freely among the temples and visitors. In old belief they were messengers of the gods, and they are still protected today; many have learned to bow to people who offer them special crackers. The Great Buddha Hall, seen here across a wide lawn on a clear day, is part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara, a World Heritage Site. A large old tree frames the left side of the picture.

Puzzle tip: start with the roofs of the hall, then the wooden walls and the lawn, and leave the tree and the sky for last.
