About Ribeira and the Douro River, Porto

The Ribeira is Porto's old riverside quarter, where tall, colourful houses crowd along the bank of the Douro. Traditional wooden rabelo boats, once used to carry barrels of port wine down the river from the vineyards of the Douro Valley, are moored along the quay. The district's narrow lanes and waterfront cafés are part of the city's UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Puzzle tip: the boats and the coloured houses are easy starting points; the river comes last.
