About Deer Statue and Saint Nicholas Fortress, Rhodes

The Colossus of Rhodes was a bronze statue of the sun god Helios, about 33 metres tall, built around 280 BC to celebrate the city's escape from a long siege. It stood for only about 54 years before an earthquake threw it down in 226 BC, yet it is still one of the most famous Seven Wonders. Nobody knows exactly where it stood, and the old picture of it striding across the harbour entrance is almost certainly a legend. Today a bronze stag and doe on two columns mark the entrance to Mandraki Harbour. In this photo the deer look out towards the fortress at the end of the mole.

Puzzle tip: start with the deer statue on its column; the round fortress across the water comes next.
