About Druk Wangyal Chortens, Dochula Pass

Dochula Pass, at about 3,100 metres, lies on the road between Thimphu and Punakha. On its crest stand 108 chortens, small Buddhist shrines, built in memory of Bhutanese soldiers and named Druk Wangyal, the "Victory of the Thunder Dragon". The number 108 is sacred in Buddhism. Strings of prayer flags flutter between the trees around them. On clear days, usually in winter, travellers can see a long line of snowy Himalayan peaks to the north, including Gangkhar Puensum, the highest mountain in Bhutan.

Puzzle tip: the white chortens are arranged in rows, so build them row by row; the sky and the trees fill in last.
