About Hirosaki Castle and Cherry Blossoms

Hirosaki Castle, in Aomori Prefecture in the far north of Honshu, has one of the twelve original castle keeps that survive in Japan; the three-storey tower was built in 1810. The park around it has about 2,600 cherry trees and is one of the most famous places in the country to see them bloom, usually in late April. In 2015 the whole keep was lifted and moved about seventy metres along rails so that the stone wall beneath it could be repaired. This photo shows it at its temporary place, among cherry blossoms.

Puzzle tip: start with the white walls and dark roofs of the keep, then the cherry trees, and finish with the cloudy sky.
