About Lednice Castle and Gardens

Lednice Castle in South Moravia was the summer residence of the Liechtenstein family, one of the richest noble families in Europe. In the middle of the nineteenth century they rebuilt it in the English Gothic style, with pinnacles, lace-like stonework and a great glass greenhouse. Around Lednice and the neighbouring town of Valtice, the family turned some two hundred square kilometres into one of the largest landscaped parks in Europe, with lakes, avenues and follies such as a sixty-metre minaret. The whole area has been a World Heritage Site since 1996.

Puzzle tip: start with the pale castle and its towers; the round flower bed and the lawn come next and the sky is last.
