About Mosque and Rooftops of Old Kabul

Kabul lies at about 1,800 metres in a valley ringed by mountains, beside the Kabul River. The city has a history of more than 3,000 years and has been the capital of Afghanistan since 1776, when Timur Shah Durrani moved the court here from Kandahar. Its houses climb far up the surrounding hillsides, where many are painted in bright colours. This view looks over the old town, with the dome and minarets of a mosque rising above the flat roofs and the mountains behind.

Puzzle tip: the dome and minarets stand out against the houses; the many small roofs are best sorted by colour.
