About Painted Gate at Taiyu-in, Nikko

The way to Iemitsu's tomb at Taiyu-in climbs through a series of gates, each more richly decorated than the last. Their beams are covered with carved and painted dragons, flowers and waves in gold, red, green and blue, and fierce guardian figures watch from the sides. Nikko has been a holy place in the mountains north of Tokyo since the eighth century. This close view looks through one of the gates, framed by bright pink pillars and a ceiling full of gilded carvings.

Puzzle tip: sort the pieces by colour first: gold, pink and blue, then build the frame of the gate and finish with the green view through it.
