About The Philippeion at Olympia

The Philippeion is a round building at Olympia begun by Philip II of Macedon after his victory at Chaeronea in 338 BC and finished by his son, Alexander the Great. Inside stood statues of Philip's family, which made it something between a temple and a monument to the new rulers of Greece. It was the only building in the sanctuary of Zeus dedicated to living people. Its Ionic columns lay on the ground for centuries, until archaeologists put three of them back in place in 2005. In this photo the columns stand on their round base, framed by dark green trees.

Puzzle tip: the curved base and the pale columns are easy to find; the leafy trees around them come last.
