Ethiopia is a highland country in the Horn of Africa, with one of the oldest Christian traditions in the world, its own alphabet and calendar, and the forests where coffee first grew. Our Ethiopia puzzles show rock-hewn churches, royal castles and extraordinary landscapes.

Rock-Hewn Church of Lalibela, Ethiopia
In the town of Lalibela, eleven churches were carved directly out of solid rock in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, cut downwards from the ground into deep trenches. In Gondar, the stone castles of the Fasil Ghebbi were built by Ethiopian emperors in the seventeenth century.
Much of the country is high plateau cut by deep gorges; near Lake Tana, the Blue Nile plunges over a wide waterfall. In the far north-east, the Danakil Depression is one of the hottest places on Earth, where hot springs at Dallol paint the ground yellow, green and orange.
