About Fishing Boats in the Harbour of Pedra de Lume, Sal

Pedra de Lume is a small harbour on the east coast of Sal, and it is where the island's salt story began. Just inland lies the crater of an extinct volcano whose floor sits below sea level; seawater seeps into it through the rock and dries into salt. From the early 1800s salt was dug there and carried to this harbour, and in 1919 an aerial cableway was built to bring it down to the ships. Today visitors float in the very salty pools of the crater. In this photo small wooden fishing boats are moored in the turquoise water below a bare hill.

Puzzle tip: the boats and the turquoise water are a good start; the bare hill and the sky come next.
